Cro-Mags at The University of the Arts

They canceled.

Colin and I went. Cro-Mags. Snapcase. 108. H2O.

I may be wrong on Snapcase.

Canon opened. Sound and lyrics. Like Earth Crisis. It was 1994. Sold.

I didn't pick up the seven inch that day. When I got it. I realized they were from Newtown.

At some point after graduating high school and flunking out of college I took some classes at Bucks County Community College. I met Ryan. Likely through Denise. We had sold out by this point. We both ended up at Temple.

We would go out. I would pass out on his couch. We would discuss less hardcore. More Morrissey. More Dave Matthews. Yes. Dave Matthews.

I haven't seen Ryan in years. I think he ended up going to music school. At least I remember hearing that.

Canon - The Solution. I sold my copy. To Sean. He wanted it because it featured a member of Frail. He was my Frail dumping ground. Acquired the mp3s on Coregasm. I think Tim pointed me in that direction.

I was pretty excited when my friend found this online a few years ago.

It holds up alright.

Better than Green Rage I suppose.

Ha.

This was my first hardcore show! What a great lineup. Doc Hopper also played that night, with Ernie from Black Train Jack playing guitar.

Do you have a flyer from this show? I would love to get a copy/jpeg of it.

I don't have the flier. I'm sure it was hanging on a door at some point.

I thought Ernie was playing for H2O. It had to be one of their first shows. I don't remember Doc Hopper playing. Although they might have.

Only time I ever saw Doc Hopper was at this show. From Chris' (Doc Hopper) MySpace blog. He mentions this show at the end:

"DOC HOPPER- guit/vox- I really started it in Oct of 1990 with George and John. I wanted to sound like Quicksand and Helmet, really. I liked hardcore. Then in Jan '91 Jon Madden joined and we began to forge the pop-metal machine that we would be until 2002. First show was at WMHB radio at Colby College, Waterville Maine April 23 1991. Thanks Rich Boulet wherever you are. These people were in the band: George, John, Jon Madden, Malcolm Felder, Seth Lepore, Scott Thibeau, Greg Hoffman, Matty Anderson, Brian Luff, Jeremy Mederios, and Justin Ingtrup. Ernie from TOKEN ENTRY/BLACK TRAIN JACK played second guitar for us at a show in Philly in 1994 and it was awesome. There was a almost riot. We were occasionally great and usually fun."

I just saw Doc Hopper is playing a 20 minute set at a Baltimor fest this week on June 28th. Too bad I'm out of town.

My memory is obviously shot. As I don't remember ever seeing Doc Hopper.

I'll see if I can dig up a flier.

I just emailed Chris from DH to see if he has a flier from that show. I'm on a mission now to get a copy of it.

I appreciate you looking for the flier, and I'll let you know if Chris has one too. Someone out there has to have one. It was packed that night!

Great blog! I just found it today at work and enjoyed reading it.

I have flyers. Shoot me an email.

It looks like you were spot on and my memory was/is a mess.

Apparently I've seen Doc Hopper and Shades Apart. And have no recollection of either.

I appreciate your help in clarifying.

Did Shades Apart play that night too? Now that I don't remember! Haha

So glad you have the flyers from this show. I got a reply from Chris (DH). He does not have a flyer but remembers that show too. Here is what he said:

"wow, that show was monumental.
yeah, ernie played that one show with us and it blew my mind. i think there was a near-riot sized fight during "melcher" and people jumping from the balcony.
we played a lot of hardcore shows then. it was fun.

i don't have the flyer, but since i have a new computer i have the briefcase full of old DH stuff that i'm going to start scanning and putting on the myspace page.

glad we could be a part of that fun time for you.
take care
chris"

I just found out last night that Doc Hopper is playing a 20 minute set at some fest in Baltimore this weekend. I live in B-more but will be out of town. Oh well!
