Newer Sounds

When I first read about this band, I thought I'd like it more than I do.

It feels like Travis-lite. Coldplay-lite. I don't know. Something I might have been way more stoked on circa 1999.

Kodaline - High Hopes. iTunes.

I might have posted this before? Who cares. Good record. Great band.

Newer Sounds

I went to see Cold World at what I believe was the Philadelphia Dance Company space on Preston Street. The Mongoloids played. I was hooked.

The Mongoloids - Mongo Life. Six Feet Under Records Webstore. New.

Seek Them

As you know, they continue to be near the top of my "Britpop's Underrated" list.

Changes In Attitude

I was never the biggest fan of The Beta Band, so I'm not sure what possessed me to check out this single.

But I really enjoy it.

So much so that perhaps I should reanalyze my position on The Beta Band.

Steve Mason - Oh My Lord. iTunes.

Newer Sounds

There seems to be a lot of hype around Bleached. So much so I'm sure the backlash is right around the bend. If it hasn't started already.

They played The Fire fairly recently. I thought about going. I didn't. My waitress at breakfast the following day had a brand spanking new t-shirt on. I asked her how they were. She said she only managed to catch a few songs after work, but they were good.

If she was any indication I probably would have been extra-old man at that show.

Baby Bump

When Jay-Z is on, he's one of the best. But his recent efforts, I don't know.

I blame Beyonce and her fake pregnancies.

Jay-Z - Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life. Amazon.com. Used.

Newer Sounds

I wanted to check this band out because of the 4AD connection.

But for some reason it reminds me of Mumford & Sons. Not a good reminder.

Thin

I thought Gahan had a pretty good look in this video.

But then I realized it was the heroin.

Depeche Mode - I Feel You. Amazon.com. Used.
