Help

I've been attempting to track down digital versions of everything I have on vinyl. I've contacted labels, made purchases on iTunes and searched via Google.

Occasionally I will be posting things I can't find. And hopefully someone can help me out.

Scrawl - Good Under Pressure

Blame Game

Gem Archer might be on my least favorite Oasis albums. But I in no way blame Gem Archer.

Heavy Stereo - Chinese Burn. Amazon.com. Used.

NonDemand

Thirteen year old me would watch MTV religiously hoping to catch this video. It was one of the videos that managed to break through the 120 Minutes wall and into regular rotation. But when it would air? There was absolutely no way of knowing.

Seeing a video you liked on MTV could be a pretty big deal. You might not catch it again for weeks.

Jane's Addiction - Been Caught Stealing. Amazon.com. Used.

Zohan

I am a huge fan of Don't Mess With the Zohan. I know this movie is terrible. And I mean terrible. But for some reason I will watch it anytime it is on.

I remember when I first saw the previews, I couldn't stop making fun of it. I didn't think there was any way I would like it. I didn't think there was any way I would see it. It looked stupid. (It is stupid.)

Then, one afternoon I was on the couch, flipping through the channels. I saw it was coming on. I decided to watch a few minutes. A few minutes became half an hour. Half an hour became an hour. Before I knew it, the credits were rolling.

I watched Don't Mess With the Zohan in its entirety. I enjoyed every minute of it. Since then I have seen all or most of the movie at least a dozen times. Zohan, I don't know how you did it. But you made me a believer.

HaDag Nachash - Bezrat Ha'jam (With the Jam's Help). iTunes.

Go Buy It

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream. iTunes.

Internationals

I've been making an effort to explore the pop and rock outside of the United States and Western Europe. Today's stop: Israel.

R.I.P.

I always forget that Falco is no longer with us.

Speaking of Punchlines

Baby Gopal might have prompted more laughs than Project Kate. I wish I could find my copy of the demo. Or at the very least a digital version.

I saw them once. It was magic.

Proper

When it comes to ABBA I own more greatest hits packages than proper albums. I'm doing my best to rectify this situation, but this is not helping.

ABBA - The Name Of the Game. Amazon.com. Used.

Go Get It

Demo time. I imagine I downloaded this via the Sleepwalkers Twitter feed.

Sleepwalkers - Waste of Life.

Trainspotting

I knew they were on the Trainspotting soundtrack. I knew their name was a bit silly. And I knew I didn't give them much thought.

Then I decided to give them some thought. So began my exploration of Fun Boy Three.

Fun Boy Three - The Best Of. Amazon.com. Used.

Twin Cities Hardcore

Punchline

This album has always been a hardcore punchline. Even when it was current.

I hadn't heard it since it's release, so I decided to pick it up again for $0.01 plus shipping.

The acoustic tracks are pretty bad. But I don't mind the other tracks. I am a sucker for female fronted indie rock, so I'm probably being overly generous.

Project Kate - ...The Way Birds Fly. Amazon.com. Used.

Unnecessary

I've posted enough of The Lightning Seeds that a greatest hits collection might be unnecessary.

Then again I keep buying them. So unnecessary is in the eye of the beholder.

The Lightning Seeds - Life of Riley: The Lightning Seeds Collection. Amazon.com. Used.

Demo Time

I got this via Wilkes-Barre in some capacity. Give it a listen.

Beware - Demo 2011.

This is the first such post.

Big Chief - Brake Torque/Glare
Big Chief - Brake Torque/Superstupid
Big Chief - Drive It Off
Big Chief - Friday Night August 14th/Bong Wrench
Big Chief - Get Down and Double Check
Big Chief - Time, Dirt, Money

Extras

I'm pretty sure this version of the release was supposed to include a DVD. Not that it matters. I don't think I've ever watched an "enhanced" disc or an included DVD.

I wonder if I've been missing out on a lot of things.

The Saturdays - Chasing Lights. Amazon.com. Used.

Repress

For the past couple of years New Age Records has been repressing a lot of their "classic" releases. Sure, it's a cash grab. But I'm buying.

I just ordered the Trial seven inch a few minutes ago. It's for new vinyl and I couldn't be happier.

But there are exceptions. In this case I shelled out money for a nice new photocopied (yet numbered) sleeve. 38 and 39 of 47. Worth it? Not at all.

Mean Season - Bleed To Me. New Age Records. New.

I know it was only a few days ago, but if you didn't listen to Living Colour with the last post, do so now.

Living Colour - Time's Up. AKA Music. Bargain bin.

Beastie Boys - The Sounds of Science. Amazon.com. Used.

I thought the powers that be deleted the files. Apparently I don't know how to search my own records.

Neue Deutsche Welle

At some point I decided it was a good idea to explore German New Wave or Neue Deutsche Welle. I always thought of West Germany as the quintessential eighties nation. I'm not really sure how to explain that statement, but I'll stand by it.

I knew of Falco. Alphaville. Nena. Klaus Nomi. I was fairly confident there were additional artists out there. With a little digging I discovered an entire world of NDW. Some (or a few) more accessible than others. Some (fewer still) cheaper than others.

Ideal was one of the first "new" bands I came across. I was not disappointed. You won't be either.

The last post was supposed to be the first post of the new year.

Here we go.
