Dancer In the Dark

I've seen bits and pieces. But not the entire film.

It's something I should get around to. But I probably won't.

Bjork - Selmasongs. Amazons.com. Used.

Fireworks

I spent a lot of time in Canada during the late-nineties. Because of this I had a good bit of exposure to The Tragically Hip.

I couldn't tell you why, but something about a Canadian band referencing hockey in a song resonated with me. I don't really care about hockey. But I was an instant fan of "Fireworks."
If there's a goal that everyone remembers, it was back in ol' 72
We all squeezed the stick and we all pulled the trigger
And all I remember was sitting beside you
You said you didn't give a fuck about hockey
And I never saw someone say that before
I'm under the impression that The Tragically Hip have only had moderate success here in The States. Which is a shame. I think they're a fairly solid rock band. The only time I've encountered American fans they generally hail from Buffalo.

For You

It's about time I put something up for your listening pleasure.

Suede - Trash (Single 2). Amazon.com. Used.

Usual Catch Up

I've been out of town. So I'm hoping to catch up on some items.

Check out the album. Check out the site.

Metroschifter - Strawberries. Princeton Record Exchange. Bargain punk.

There Can Be Only One

Sometimes I think Gary Numan and Klaus Nomi. One being dead only bolsters my claim.

Unrelated: I don't know what I think about this new editor. Which might not be new. But I only just noticed.

Gary Numan - Strange Charm. Amazon.com. New.

Cameo

For the longest time I thought OMD appeared at the prom in Pretty In Pink.

I'm pretty sure that isn't true.

College

I remember members of Beta Minus Mechanic coming out to watch Nineironspitfire and Botch at the Wescott Community Center.

Then they left when Ink & Dagger went on.

Syracuse and Ink & Dagger. Bad blood in the nineties.

Glam

It always amazes me that the glam band of "Stay Beautiful" became the band they are today. That being said, all versions are excellent.

Unavailable

My plan was to post this as a "Go Buy It" but it appears to be out of print on the 6131 Records website. And out of stock on RevHQ.

So without further ado...

Edit: Apparently I already posted this. Here we go again.

Pressure/Colin of Arabia - Stalemate. 6131 Records Webstore. New.

Secret Shame

I'm embarrassed to say this, but I really like this album.

I bought it on a bargain bin whim to see if Enkindel was as bad as I remembered. They aren't. At least this release.

You probably disagree. And I won't blame you. It is a difficult thing for me to even admit.

But I think I was right to give them another shot.

Enkindel - Some Assembly Required. Princeton Record Exchange. Bargain punk.

The X-Factor

So we weren't going to get Dannii Minogue. But you gave us Cheryl Cole. An excellent choice.

Then you took her away. Monsters.

For Fans of 4AD

I don't know much about Guitar. I first heard them about eight years ago. The disc arrived in a package from my friend. An unmarked disc but for "Guitar" written in Sharpie marker.

I liked what I heard. I still didn't know much about the band. I tried to do a little research. I came up with nothing. I think they might be German. That's something. It might be wrong.

I came across a second album in the AKA bargain bin. I passed on it. I was confident it would be there next time. It was.

So here, for you now, Guitar.

Guitar - Saltykisses. AKA Music. Bargain bin.

Way Off

I always remembered Reality Bites taking place in New York. During a recent viewing I realized it took place in Houston. I have no idea how I missed that. Or mis-remembered that.
