Best Era

Despite his later commercial success (literally), this era is Moby's best.

Angular? Is that the term for this? I don't know.

Devo meets The Wedding Present? Why not. It feels like an apt description to me. I'm rolling with it.

Still Not Ride

Post-Ride, but more of an Oasis ripoff. Fittingly. But I like Hurricane #1. A lot. I think they get unfairly overlooked.

I've been loving this EP for some time now and I'm glad to see London Grammar is "making it" in the United States.

Their show in Philadelphia this past weekend was sold out (giving me an excuse not to spend money I didn't really need to spend).

Cathy doesn't care for them. She thinks the singer sounds "mannish." I disagree. I think the whole package is fantastic.

London Grammar - Metal & Dust. iTunes.

District of Columbia

If you ever feel like bolstering your "DC-area" music collection, I recommend going straight to the source. I had a theory that the independent records stores in DC would have a great used stock of Dischord, Teen Beat, Simple Machines (and associated artists) releases. I was correct.

(This theory also holds true for Go Go if that interests you as well.)

Candy Machine - A Modest Proposal. Used.

Well. Not so new. But new to me.

Most of the bands in these posts tend to be from overseas, but this one is actually American. Apparently they've been around for a while, but I only just stumbled on them. I like their sound a lot.

Crocodiles - Endless Flowers. iTunes.

CUSM

Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine are one of those bands that I think people like, but are at risk of becoming a footnote in British music.

So I will continue to champion them.

I've already posted a Beliefs single. But again, if you're a fan of the "shoegaze" end of indie rock this is for you.
