Discogs

Elton John. One of many artists in my discography project.

I wonder if I should buy every album by certain artists. Or stop when they turn to shit. Because a lot of these "classic" acts I'm buying. Eventually turn to shit.

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. amazon.com. Used.

Yeah. I don't like this. But I bought it. So here it is. Maybe it's your thing. It's not mine.

Don't get me wrong. It's not bad. If it's up your alley.

Love Buzzard - Everything About You/Caught In the Deed. iTunes.

Invasion Used To Be This Band...

Do people still jock Righteous Jams? I mean, they were massive during their existence. But interest seems to have waned.

I think both LPs have held up well. In fact, I'd say Business As Usual has gotten better with time.

Righteous Jams - Rage of Discipline. Mike. Used.

Bonus points for being Swedish. But I really like this. It reminds me of Santogold. AKA Santigold.

Elliphant - Down On Life. iTunes.

Hip

The most popular of the "hip" bands? I don't know. Maybe.

MGMT - Electric Feel. amazon.com. Used.

Straight forward rock n roll. Not bad. Not groundbreaking. But I enjoy it enough to check out more stuff.

Terribly unhelpful review...

Actually after typing the above and listening through it again, there is some stuff I really like on this. "Hollow Heartache" is definitely on a JAMC vibe that I can get behind. The whole thing is to a certain extent.

White Firs - Mutes & Signs. iTunes.

About Time

This is a disc I've wanted to pick up for years, but only managed to do so while working on my Dischord discography. I often remember it in the "DC box" at the Newtown Book and Record Exchange. I'm not sure why I never picked it up then.

The Snakes - Happy & I Won't Love You ('til You're More Like Me). amazon.com. Used.

(And I can't be bothered digging out the disc to photograph.)

Here's an outfit I certainly want to hear more from. I'm here all night folks.

Outfit - I Want What's Best. iTunes.

Good Band. Great Name. Even Better Film.

I wanted to see if I posted any BMX Bandits records yet. The post entitled "BMX Bandits" for the band Theme Park threw me for a loop.

But enough about that. BMX Bandits. A band I hated in their mid-nineties heyday. I gave them another shot in the past year or so. And it clicked.

BMX Bandits - Theme Park. amazon.com. Used.

There is a 100% chance I purchased this single based on artwork alone. I didn't even know they were Scandinavian at the time. Usually that's all it takes.

Postiljonen - Supreme. iTunes.

Must Own

Do you like music? Then you should probably own this.

The Byrds - Sweetheart of the Rodeo. amazon.com. Used.

If you follow this blog you can see I've really stepped up my "new music" game. Like any music I like some things better than others.

Kult Country is definitely one of my more promising finds. It trends towards the "shoegaze" end of things. So of course I'm an easy mark.

Kult Country - Slowburn/Amongst the Dead Forever. iTunes.

Name/Name

To me this was always a Skewbald record titled Grand Union.

It was only recently. Embarrassingly recently. That I realized Skewbald/Grand Union was the full name of the band.

Skewbald/Grand Union. The Marvelous! Used.

I always want to love Neil Hannon projects. They make sense to me in theory. But I can never get my head around The Divine Comedy. This "cricket" project isn't bad. But again, not something blowing my mind.

I think my favorite Neil Hannon endeavor is the Father Ted theme.

The Duckworth Lewis Method - Ireland, Ireland. iTunes.

Raid is so awesome. Questionable lyrics and all. Don't hate.

Shit, I'm way behind on posting new purchases as well. This is from the summer.

Lynne

In the midst of buying ELO's studio discography I managed to pick up a second greatest hits package. I can never have too much ELO. No one can.

They are one of those "groups" that people don't think they know any of their songs. But it turns out they know all of their songs.

Electric Light Orchestra - ELO Classics. amazon.com. Used.

I back the reinvention of Miley Cyrus 100%. And this might be one of my favorite singles of 2013. Top five. Easy.

Frankie, Not Hollywood

This is a fine release that I don't think gets a lot of credit. Maybe it did when it was released. Maybe I was on the periphery of new releases at the time. Maybe it's loved by all.

I think Frankie & The Heartstrings are a solid band in the tradition of straight forward modern British rock that I tend to embrace.

Frankie & The Heartstrings - Hunger. amazon.com. Used.
