Longevity

I never thought of Dodgy as a band with a long career.

They certainly have plenty of releases though.

New To Me

My Erasure knowledge after I Say I Say I Say is a bit spotty to say the least. I have a couple of the full-lengths. Some singles.

So every purchase of an Erasure release post-1994 is an adventure for me.

Erasure - Don't Say Your Love Is Killing Me (Single 2). Amazon.com. Used.

Text Poll

A few years ago I received a text message from my friend Chad.

"Gin Blossoms or Goo Goo Dolls."

I went with Gin Blossoms. But I really like those Goo Goo hits.

Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience. Long In the Tooth. Bargain bin.

Success

I say Kelly Clarkson is the most successful American Idol.

Some friends say it's Carrie Underwood.

They're probably right. I just happen to like Kelly Clarkson. So that's how I'm measuring success.

Kelly Clarkson - Miss Independent.

Cigarette-Smoking Man

I don't know much about The X-Files.

I do know there was about a two month period in the middle of the series that I watched it religiously. Not before. And not since.

Catatonia - Mulder and Scully. Amazon.com. Used.

This Is England 93

My first trip to England was in March of 1993. "Regret" was all over the radio.

Technique is what got me into New Order (outside of the random "hits" throughout the eighties).

But "Regret" and ultimately Republic are what turned them into an obsession.

New Order - Regret. Amazon.com. Used.

Go Buy It

The Cure - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. Amazon.com. Used.

More and More

I keep getting more an more behind on posting.

It isn't a task. I just don't get around to it. I'm WAY behind in August. Hopefully a weekend flood.

The Bluetones - Keep the Home Fires Burning. Amazon.com. Used.

Liquid Television

If I'm not mistaken Whale's moment in the sun was a clip on Beavis and Butt-head.

I love all of their output and wish there was more out there.

Whale - Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe. Amazon.com. Used.

On Lead

Some of my favorite Depeche Mode songs feature Martin Gore on lead vocals.

"Somebody." "One Caress." "Home."

Although I didn't realize he was the lead vocalist until much later in life. Or I should say, much later in my Depeche Mode fandom.

Martin L. Gore - Counterfeit E.P. Long In the Tooth. Used.

Taboo

I think Cathy hates this album more than Bad Trip. That's quite an accomplishment.

I ask that she not judge my taste.

Boy George - Cheapness and Beauty. Amazon.com. Used.

The Cheapest Quest

The Cheapest Quest recently posted about Curve. Everyone should take a look at the site. Especially if your taste in music trends towards the eclectic.

A Real Pleasant Surprise

Michael has diverse taste in music. But generally speaking I place him in the Dead/Phish camp. I'm sure he'd disagree, but I'm working with generalizations here.

Imagine my surprise when he informed me he had gotten into Iron Maiden.

Fantastic news.

Iron Maiden - A Real Live One. Amazon.com. Used.

Organization

The dual artist greatest hit package results in too much work after importing into iTunes.
