PHL

Maybe I'm way off base here. But I'm going with it.

I am often surprised by how little rap/hip hop has come out of Philadelphia. And I am by no means discounting the output of Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Bahamadia, The Roots, Eve, The Goats and even Will Smith.

Maybe there is a huge subculture I am unaware of. I'm thirty-five, so there's a very good chance of that. But in the absence of that I like to think the recent success and popularity of Meek Mill will inspire and open doors for more Philadelphia artists.
