My first trip to England was in March of 1993. "Regret" was all over the radio.

Technique is what got me into New Order (outside of the random "hits" throughout the eighties).

But "Regret" and ultimately Republic are what turned them into an obsession.

Some of my favorite Depeche Mode songs feature Martin Gore on lead vocals.

"Somebody." "One Caress." "Home."

Although I didn't realize he was the lead vocalist until much later in life. Or I should say, much later in my Depeche Mode fandom.

A Real Pleasant Surprise
