A Real Live One

Sebadoh is playing soon. I might go. But I know me. I won't.

Come On Virgin

For a group that was one of the biggest in the world at the time, the art on the single is incredibly low-budget.

Spice Girls - 2 Become 1. Amazon.com. Used.

All In a Name

Candylion.

I think this is such a great name for an album. At least a SFA affiliated album.

I don't know why. It's simple. Straightforward. Stupid.

Yet I can't help but love it.

Gruff Rhys - Candylion. Amazon.com. Used.

Second

Many bands experience a sophomore slump. But Placebo, like Radiohead, is a band in which their second album far outshines the first.

That's not to say the debut album isn't great. It is.

Placebo. Amazon.com. Used.

They're Back

The Get Up Kids are back.

I don't think they were away for very long. Although to be fair they sort of fell off my radar after the Woodson EP.

There were some reunion shows.

Then the next thing I know, there's a new album at AKA Music.

The Get Up Kids - On A Wire. Amazon.com. Used.

Redux

I mentioned this on Twitter some time ago.

(Yes, it's taken this long to finally post it.)

"Grey Cell Green" is a great song.

It really is. Listen to it. Keep listening to it.

Censorship

It's silly this video was "banned."

I remember seeing it in full on MTV. Once.

Prodigy - The Fat of the Land. Long In the Tooth. Bargain bin.

Go Get It

Strange Sounds Vol. VI - The Florrie Mixtape.

Summertime

Dodgy is summer.

Sure, that might be a laze assessment since they reference summer in one of their biggest hits.

But they're still summer rock.

Dodgy - The Dodgy Album. Amazon.com. Used.

Sophomore

I wish I could find the second album priced to move. So far, no luck.

Depression

I always think of "No Distance Left to Run" as being one of the songs that marked the end of Blur. I know there is an album after 13, but it was never the same.

Even the video feels somewhat final.

Japan

Shonen Knife, The Boredoms and Pizzicato Five were my earliest forays into Japanese music. And for that, I thank them.
