Still Not Ride

Post-Ride, but more of an Oasis ripoff. Fittingly. But I like Hurricane #1. A lot. I think they get unfairly overlooked.

Hurricane #1 - Rising Sign Mixes. amazon.com. Used.

More Heavy

Yes, I recently posted Heavy Stereo. Here's a bit more.

Heavy Stereo - Sleep Freak. AKA Music. Bargain bin.

Blame Game

Gem Archer might be on my least favorite Oasis albums. But I in no way blame Gem Archer.

Heavy Stereo - Chinese Burn. Amazon.com. Used.

Other Bell

For a band that only put out two albums I sure have a lot of Hurricane #1 releases at this point.

And there are still more to follow.

Sophomore

I wish I could find the second album priced to move. So far, no luck.

Unforgiven

I wish Andy Bell stuck it out with Hurricane #1 rather than contributing to the slow, inevitable death of Oasis.

I'm not sure if I can forgive him for being a part of Heathen Chemistry.

A Form of Flattery

Why emulate Oasis?

When you can join them?

A Double Shot at Lyla

I really don't like this song.

But there it is. Stuck in my head.

But there I am. Singing along.

Oasis - Lyla. AKA Music. Bargain bin.

You Know It, You Love It

Your mom probably does.

And your friends who know nothing about British bands.

Maybe that girl from high school.

That group at the bar.

The corny DJ.

Hit compilations of the nineties.

Or maybe you don't like it at all.

Oasis - Wonderwall

Beggars Can't Be Choosers

Like an EP, the non-album single is a treat.

Sadly, both have become something of a rarity in the grand scheme of releases.

Which goes double for American artists.

Both formats are underutilized, cheating the listening public out of an in-between-album surprise.

A teaser of what's to come.

Oasis - Whatever. eBay. Used.

Superfandom Forever

I've known many since, but Eric was the first Oasis superfan I ever met.

This discovery was made a few years into their career. A time when I thought most people were forgetting about them. If they were doing anything at all.

He owned a number of limited items. Special releases. No doubt procured from his position managing The Wall.

At a house party he showed me the singles box set. All of the singles at the time. I wanted one. Continue to want one.

He also introduced me to Supergrass. "The male Elastica."

I thank him for that.

Oasis - Stand By Me. eBay. Used.

Inauguration Day

I am an Obama supporter.

And I love politics. Especially of the Democratic variety.

That being said, I am more than ready for today to be over.

Get on with the business of governing. Less Dustin Hoffman.

Oasis - Some Might Say
. eBay. Used.

No Shame

It's overplayed at bars. DJs spinning it. They're more likely to be pressing play.

Too many hipsters and post-hardcores know the hits. And not much else. Crowd pleasing.

I could care less.

I love this song. Any venue. Any event. Any situation. Any context.

Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger
. eBay. Used.

Oasis Is a Gateway Drug

All of the sudden. Brian was into Oasis.

It may not have been that sudden. Not sudden at all.

I was down on Oasis during this period. Not listening. Not purchasing. It was the height of the Oasis versus Blur feud.

I sided with Blur. As if my support was important.

It was nice when a year or so later I stopped being a moron and decided I could listen to both bands. And enjoy them.

I was living Quadrophenia. Only in my head.

Oasis - The Masterplan. Purchased at Best Buy. Or via eBay. One or the other. I'm leaning towards eBay.

Bonus Discs, Bonus DVDs Reel You In

Every so often an album will come along. Packaged with a bonus disc.

Sometimes a DVD.

I appreciate the bonus material. If given the choice. That is the format I will purchase.

I prefer the bonus compact disc. To the bonus DVD.

I don't think I've ever watched a bonus DVD.

Yet I keep buying them. Will keep buying them.

Oasis - Standing on the Shoulder of Giants
. I couldn't tell you where I bought this. I can tell you it has a bonus single.

Work for Three, Bill for Twelve

The day it came out I was at work. Six or seven am.

I was excited for it. Actually excited. I had been underwhelmed by the first single. Still. Excited.

Sitting there. In my cubicle. Waiting for Best Buy to open.

Ten am.

I left. Walked to Best Buy.

A few blocks up.

Made the purchase.

For a change of pace. I went back to work.

Often. I would call it a day around nine. And head home.

Sometimes. I'd go shopping. Return hours later.

Did it pay really well? No. Was it conducive to my irresponsible, carefree, mid-twenties lifestyle? Yes.

Was the album any good? Not really.

Oasis - Heathen Chemistry. Purchased at Best Buy. Chelsea.
