Slap Bass

Generally people tend to cite the seven inch as their favorite Turning Point release. I like it, but I don't think it comes close to the LP. Easily in my top ten favorite hardcore releases. I might be able to convince myself it's in my top five. I think it's perfect in every way.

Turning Point - It's Always Darkest...Before the Dawn. Used.

Life and Love

People loved Unbroken. But none loved Unbroken quite like Adeet.

I think I gave him my Life, Love, Regret disc because it had a black cover, rather than the blue. A completest to the extreme. I respect that.

Unbroken - You Won't Be Back. Mike. Used.

Reunion Releases

I hear great things about the new Strife record.

You should listen to this in the meantime.

Pressing

Does anyone know the pressing information for the self-titled Ressurection seven inch on New Age?

The sleeve I have doesn't even match the one on the New Age discography page.

Ressurection. Mike. Used.

All Done?

I think this covers all of Outspoken for the blog.

Outspoken - A Light In the Dark. AKA Music. Bargain bin.

Wrong

I was singing the praises of Survival in a recent post. My friend said The Current was Outspoken at the top of their game.

Upon repeated listening of both, he might be right.

Outspoken - The Current. New Age Records. New.

Survival Revival

Do people get into Outspoken? I thought they had been relegated to hardcore footnote but then I saw they were playing shows again. This surprised me.

I always thought they were great. But even when they were a current band I didn't know a lot of people that were into their releases.

The Survival record is probably my favorite.

Repress

For the past couple of years New Age Records has been repressing a lot of their "classic" releases. Sure, it's a cash grab. But I'm buying.

I just ordered the Trial seven inch a few minutes ago. It's for new vinyl and I couldn't be happier.

But there are exceptions. In this case I shelled out money for a nice new photocopied (yet numbered) sleeve. 38 and 39 of 47. Worth it? Not at all.

Mean Season - Bleed To Me. New Age Records. New.

Renamed

I had a Dayspring ten inch I couldn't give away (which I finally gave away).

Now I wish I had it again.

Grip - Friction Burn Fatal. Marcus. Used.

Re-Post?

I thought I posted this before. I thought wrong.

I still need a hard copy of this.

Until Then

I wish Deathwish, Inc. would release the Ressurection discography so I can take this down.

Hint hint.

Dial Up

In my early days of Internet use I developed an email friendship with a straight edge girl in Victoria, British Columbia. This international friendship was made possible through CompuServe.

We met once, in Philadelphia. She was on tour with her friends, Breakwater.

I wonder what happened to her.

Strain - Here and Now. Long in the Tooth. Used.

Spooky Edge

For a brief period during the nineties I thought of New Age as the spooky label.

Not the music. The art.

Grace. Life. Love. Regret. A Light in the Dark. Even What Was Said.

Spooky artwork. All of them.

Outspoken - The Current. Amazon.com. Used.

Hellfest

When I heard about the bands reuniting for the Hellfest-That-Never-Was a few years ago, I considered going.

It worked out for me anyway. When Hellfest didn't happen I was able to see 108 and Lifetime in the city. They were the two bands I really wanted to see. Any others would have been a bonus.

If I remember correctly, Mean Season was also supposed to play the Hellfest-That-Never-Was. I found this curious because I couldn't imagine who out there was clamoring for a Mean Season reunion. I had liked the band, and still do. But I had never considered them particularly noteworthy.

Nor did I consider them a band that a lot of people remembered fondly.

I think they continue to play shows. So there must be a market out there I'm unaware of. Maybe I am that market.

Mean Season - Grace. Amazon.com. Used.

Absolutely Nothing

I recall seeing the release when it came out.

I knew the label. New Age Records.

Nothing else.

I never owned it.

With most hardcore bands, I have some sort of reference point.

Members. Scene or locale. Prior bands. Post bands.

With this.

Nothing.

Nothing then. Nothing now.

Collateral Damage - Let Me Be Broken
. Generation Records. Used.

The Heat Took Away the Air Conditioning, the Fans, the Dr. Mario and the Ability to Post this New Age Release from 1995

I spent more time. And money. At Generation Records. After I moved to New York.

I would leave work for extended periods of time. Or for the day. To enjoy some shopping.

Sometimes clothes. More often music.

Working on twenty-third street. Generation Records was not a far walk. Or subway ride.

Their used section. Full of hardcore castaways.

Walking back to work. With Ire. Jihad. In my hand.

Generation Records continues to feed my addiction. For the hardcore that time forgot.

The Suppression Swing - Just a Word. Used at Generation Records.
